Marguerite Izzo, whose teaching career spans over 30 years, is a full-time fifth-grade teacher, specializing in English Language Arts, in the Malverne School District, NY. She has taught Social Studies grades 7-12, Reading, and all subjects in grades 1- 6. Ms. Izzo has been an adjunct professor of education at Adelphi University Masters of Education program for 15 years. She is a director of the Malverne Teacher Center, where she designs and manages professional development for district faculty. Ms. Izzo has been honored as an inductee of the National Teacher Hall of Fame in 2014, the Lowell Milken Center Fellowship in 2013, as the sole teacher member of the U. S. delegation at the International Summit on the Teaching Profession in 2010 and 2011 and as the New York State Teacher of the Year in 2007. She is a member of the Teacher Leader Standards Consortium and the Board of Directors of the National Network of State Teachers of the Year.
